Description of Flour Silos

Flour silos (Powder silos or powder bins) are widely used to hold and discharge flour and other powder materials such as cement and PFA (Pulverized Fuel Ash). The powder is not easy to store and deliver. A steel powder storage silo is a good choice to hold and discharge weighty powder materials. Flour is such kind of powder as the basic ingredient for many food products and is stored in silos up to 20meters high. The filling and emptying of the powder silo are often performed by pneumatic systems that transport the stored powder from the large external powder bins and deposit them in smaller holding vessels for further processing. The filling and emptying processes are controlled by reliable level measurement. Pressure monitoring is also required in the pneumatic conveying pipelines.
Elevators or conveyors can also be used to handle powder transporting. A powder steel silo is a good choice to hold and discharge weighty powder materials. Powder storage silos have the characteristics of lower cost, shorter construction time, and unloading of materials easily. Production details

Hopper bottom silos (also called cone bottom silos, hopper bottom storage bins, hopper bins) are the steel silos with a cone bottom. Hopper bottom silos are erected on the supporting structure to make the delicate products unloading easily through gravity. Hopper silos have a smooth wall hopper transition with no steps or flanges to offer the cleanest product discharge from the silo. The stored products inside the silo are isolated from the ground, thereby preventing humidity and allowing the interconnection of silos through tapes, facilitating perfect extraction or dosage.

Components of Flour Silos

Powder silo can be used indoor or outdoor, round type or square type, with no normal specifications. Shelley Engineering can design the flour silo to satisfy your requirements.

Flour silo (powder bin) includes the silo roof, silo body, and silo hopper with legs. The powder silo roof, body, and hopper are made of carbon steel, with food-grade painting, make sure the safety of the flour; On the silo roof, there are flour inlets, a safety valve, and Vibration filter, an Explosion-proof vent, a manhole. On the silo body, there is a ladder, ladder safety guard, and level indicator. Powder silo leg is made of round pipe or H beam steel (with normal painting), based on the silo size. According to the customer's requirement, Powder silo also can be made with stainless steel.
