Solar thermal + heat pump water heating system offers an very effective way of water heating. As in rainy or cloudy days, traditional single solar water heater can not produce enough hot water by the sun and it must need an electric heater for back-up, however, efficiency of an electirc heater is maximum about 90%, so in rainy days, this electric heater not only waste too much energy but also it is not 100% safe to human as there is a risk of electricity leakage.
