Product Description

Doxy cycline is a semi-synthetic tetracyc line produced by hydrolysis of oxytetracyc line to remove the 6-hydroxyl group. Although this synthesis method was reported as early as 1958, it was not officially put into use until 1967. Doxycy cline, along  is considered a "third generation" tetracyc line, largely replacing the analogues and prodrugs used in mainstream antibiotic applications in the early 1960s. Like all tetracyc lines, doxyc ycline shows broad-spectrum antibacterial and antigenic bacterial activity and blocks protein synthesis by binding to the 30S and 50S ribosome subunits. Doxyc ycline has been widely cited in the literature, with over 10,000 references.
