Untuk mengurangi penggunaan listrik ini, ada persyaratan hukum terkait efisiensi motor listrik yang diproduksi di UE, atau diekspor ke UE.
Motor asinkron tiga fase, satu kecepatan dibahas oleh persyaratan hari ini. Motor yang tidak sinkron adalah jenis motor yang paling umum dan terhitung 90 persen konsumsi listrik semua motor listrik dalam kisaran daya 0.75 - 375 kW.
Menurut standar tersebut, kelas efisiensi energi memiliki penandaan IE1, IE2, IE3 dan IE4, IE5,di mana IE5 memiliki efisiensi tertinggi.

EXD-simol Eksternal, EkDUIIC,Exdc4,ExdBT4, Kategori I:suhu tertinggi tidak melebihi 150(ketika debu batu bara bisa mencakup permukaan motor), tidak lebih tinggi dari 450 C(apabila debu batu bara tidak akan mencakup permukaan atau beberapa pekerjaan pelindung dilakukan untuk mencegah penumpukan debu batu bara) T2(suhu 5450 C)(450C). Kotak terminal dengan tiga atau enam terminal untuk kabel karet mantel (kabel plastik) dan kabel baja.
Suhu sekitar: 15 di tambang batubara dan -15 di pabrik.
