N-Pentane chemical formula C5H12, the fifth member of an alkane. There are two isomers of n-pentane: isopentane (boiling at 28°C) and neopentane (boiling at 10°C). The term "pentane" usually refers to n-pentane, its straight-chain isomer.

1. N-pentane is being used primarily in Europe in integral-skin flexible foams.

2. It is used as a solvent, in the manufacture of low-temperature thermometers,and as a blowing agent for plastics.
3. n-Pentane is a flammable liquid. It has diverse uses in industry-for instance, as an aerosol propellant and as an important component of engine fuel.
